About Dr. Kusiek
I am very excited to be joining the team at VMC. I am originally from a small rural town in Southern Oregon. I grew up on a cattle ranch, was very active in the 4-H community raising livestock and competed in horse shows until heading to college. At the time, I wanted to become a large animal veterinarian with a focus on cattle, however, I ended up following a passion to work with dogs and cats.
I completed my undergraduate and DVM degrees at Oregon State University in 2006 and immediately moved to Sparks, Nevada to join my husband and start my veterinary career. I was blessed to work in an amazing small animal practice in Sparks until 2022 when my husband and I decided to move to Tennessee. We moved to Jonesborough in December 2022.
My passion in Veterinary Medicine is client education and developing a bond with my clients and patients. I believe veterinarians and owners can make a great team when it comes to keeping our beloved pets as healthy and happy as possible. I love ultrasound imaging and have taken several additional courses in abdominal and cardiac ultrasound. I also enjoy dental procedures. I really look forward to meeting all of you and your fur babies. Please do not hesitate to reach out if your pets need anything.
We have two active kids in middle school – my son plays baseball, and my daughter followed in my footsteps and has become a competitive Hunter/Jumper rider. We have 2 French bulldogs, a golden retriever, a rabbit and 2 horses. I love hiking, trail riding, snowboarding, and exploring historical sites and national parks. I have definitely fallen in love with the area.
